Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) has just announced the introduction of its first ever in-ear headphones – the C5.  The new model features a unique and proprietary Micro Porous Filter that is designed to increase clarity and the perception of spaciousness.

B&W is a fairly new entrant to the headphone market, introducing its first product in the space just last year with its P5 on-ear headphones.  The new C5 in-ear headphone will be considerably lower priced than the P5, appealing to a potentially wider segment of consumers.

As is the case with the B&W P5, the C5 has been designed to work with Apple products, coming with the ‘Made for iPod’ sticker on package. The most novel functional feature to the C5 is its proprietary Micro Porous Filter.  This filter is made up of very tiny ball bearings and acts as a diffuser, with the objective of providing clearer and more spacious sound than previously attainable with in-ear headphones.

The C5 incorporates a Secured Loop design, which uses a cushioned loop that affixes to the user’s ear on the inner ridge.  This Secured Loop is designed to hold the C5 in place during more active use and to provide more consistent sound though maintaining more constant positioning of the in-ear bud.

The C5 is made from high-grade aluminum to increase its durability, while adding to its premium feel.

The new B&W C5 is expected to hit the stores this coming August at an MSRP of approximately $250 U.S.
