Wharfedale has just announced that their new Jade series loudspeaker line will be released this August. The Jade Series was first shown at the European Bristol Show in February 2011.

The Jade series is the newest audiophile class speaker design from Wharfedale and integrates the latest technology and production improvements from Wharfedale’s in-house design.  Computer-aided modelling and precision tooling is used to produce increased level of performance.

The Jade series improves on Wharfedale’s multi-braced MDF curved cabinet construction with the latest in material technology.  The curved cabinets are made from proprietary Crystalam, which is a laminated material made from a series of natural wood elements and composites, to reduce panel vibration and sound leakage.  New bass and midrange drive units utilize specially designed proprietary cone material, called Acufiber, that combines glass and carbon fibre materials with a self-damping woven matrix.  The objective is to provide greater resolution of details from the loudest transient to micro-harmonics.

The Jade series speakers will be available in a choice of three real-wood veneers: black oak, vintage cherry as well as in a glossy piano black finish.  Optional extras include floor stands for the Jade-1 and Jade-3, and table stands for the Jade-C1 and Jade-C2.

There are seven models in total: two standmounters, two floorstanders, a pair of centre speakers and a subwoofer.

Jade 1 and 3 are three-way sealed box designs with a 25mm aluminium dome tweeter, 7.5cm Acufiber cone and a 12.5cm (Jade 1) or 15cm (Jade 3) Acufiber cone.

The Jade 5 floorstander, again a three-way sealed box design, is equipped with a 25mm aluminium dome tweeter, 7.5cm Acufiber cone and a pair of 15cm Acufiber units.

Jade 7 is a four-way sealed box model and gets three Acufiber cones of 7.5cm, 15cm and 17.5cm.

Nominal impedance is 6 Ohms with a 86dB/1 w/ 1m for standmount models and 88dB for floorstanders.
