New from Monitor Audio is their Gold Series GX loudspeakers, which replaces their former GS line. The new GX line takes from the design and components of their flagship Platinum series, utilizing Platinum series drivers, crossover and cabinet technologies.
There are seven GX models in black and white piano lacquer and Bubunga, Walnut and Natural Oak real wood veneers, all featuring a version of the much admired Platinum C-CAM ribbon tweeter together with RST C-CAM bass and midrange drivers. The new GX series includes two-way monitors GX50 and GX100; three-way floorstanding models GX200 and GX300; a surround speaker GX-FX; plus a 15″ 650 watt GXW-15 subwoofer.
Each GX enclosure is hand-built from multiple laminations of MDF, hot-pressed to form a plywood shell. Its rigid and curved nature, aided by radial internal braces and bolt-through driver fixings, inhibits unwanted vibrations and internal standing waves.
GX models will become available in April. U.K. MSRP is as follows:
GX50 bookshelf speaker £ 950
GX100 bookshelf speaker £1250
GX200 floorstanding speaker £2300
GX30 floorstanding speaker £3000
GXC 150 center Speaker £650
GXC 350 center speaker £1000
GX-FX surround speaker £1400
GXW-15 subwoofer £1750
