Tributaries, based out of sunny Orlando, Florida, U.S.A. has just annouced its latest update to its existing HEC line of HDMI cables.  The revampled HDMI cable line will now incorporate improved cable construction for higher performance.  As well, there are new additions to the line, which include their IHEC cable for long distance runs and the HX102 – a patent pending dongle-style extender that is available separately or together in a IHEC-X kit.

All HEC HDMI cables benefit from new conductors, connector shielding, stronger connectors, and thicker gold plating on the contacts, while the Series 6, 8 and new IHEC receive the added advantage of Full Body Armor, a protective covering for the connector circuit.

Remaining from the previous design are the wildly popular shorter connectors, making tight space placements easier as well as the BOSS elements (raised bumps on the connector) which help the connector fit tight into its receptacle, and help maintain equal pressure in the receptacle to keep the connector from shifting around. The lack of lateral movement keeps the Hot Plug Detect from being disconnected.

Tributaries has a goal of providing reliable HDMI over long distances.  The new IHEC cables utilize a lower guage (larger cable) to provide increased performance.  The new HX102 allows electronics to be added at the end of the long run between the cable and TV, which allows for easy replacement, in the case of electronic failure, without removing a long run of cable.
